male/female romantic roles

I watched the movie, Dan in Real Life, today. I occasionally let Natalie sleep on me for a nap, and when she does, it's either nap time for me, read, or TV. So, I popped it in. The first time I watched this movie, I think I expected too much from Steve Carrell. He's hilarious on The Office, and other movies I've seen him in, and I think I expected that same humor. Actually, I expected more of a comedy than a romantic drama/comedy... so the first time, I just didn't think too much of the movie. Last week I netflixed it, and thought I'd give it a second chance. This time I LOVED it. What I really enjoyed was, we don't have too many romantic drama/comedies that have a male lead role. Usually it's the chick going through the heartache.
Question: in My Best Friend's Wedding, Julia Roberts is made out to be a psycho stalker chick, and ends up NOT getting the guy. Yet, in Made of Honor, it's the exact same story, except the lead is a Male... But, when the male is the psycho stalker, it's romantic and cute, and he ends up with the girl. why is that?

I cannot BELIEVE someone STOLE your Snap N Go from a CHURCH!!!! What is this world coming to?!!!! I have to say I was very grateful that the thief that stole my GPS & Bluetooth didn't also steal the carseat base from my car. BTW - Could you possibly ask Amanda if she could invite me to view her blog now that it's private? (merileeacts@yahoo.com) Thanks!:)
