So we bought our first box of diapers the other day. How weird is that? We had a Costco coupon, $9 off, if you buy diapers and wipees... so $58 later we got 258 size 2 Huggies diapers and 1000 Huggies wipees ... Wow.. that's a lot of money and a lot of wipees.. (how long will those last?) We thought we'd start buying a a little here and there, if we have coupons... But, even with a coupon... geesh! But, how do you know which kind to get? Huggies, Luvs, Pampers, etc.. Any preferences out there?
Also, as you can see, we posted a poll to see what you all think we're going to have... so cast your vote. We'll find out the results on Sept. 24th!!! wahooo!!!!!!

You'll be surprised how fast those wipes go! =) I actually like BOTH Pampers and Huggies...not a fan of Luvs or Costco brand. They feel so harsh...and kind of cheap. Felt like I was wrapping Ezra up in paper towels whenever I used them. My girlfried HATES Huggies with a passion...but Ezra has NEVER had a blow out diaper (we use huggies but...I will totally buy pampers if they're on sale). Another thing I swear by is overnight diapers!!!! HELLO! No one ever told me about these. We used to change Ezra twice a night...Overnight diapers put a stop to that. =) You'll be surprised how much your opinions change when your baby actually gets here. Ezra has to use the pampers sensitive wipes or he gets a rash (found that one out the hard way) and he fits better in the old school huggies, not the new natural fits...again, wouldn't have known that until he got here. I am so excited for you!! Sorry about the novel. =)

I really like the Pampers Sensitive brand of diapers. I've often found them on sale. They have a yellow line down the front that turns green when she has a wet diaper. It's so nice being able to tell at a glance if she needs a diaper change. We bought a bulk box of wipes from Target before Ashilene was born and we're only a little over half way through them. (She's currently 2 1/2 months.) How are you feeling these days?
It takes us 2-3 months to go through those Costco boxes of wipes. I recommend registering for a wipe warmer and a couple of replacement pads. We used Pampers when Parker was little, but switched when they were leaking often and went to Huggies... plus, they are at Costco so that is a plus. We did not like the Kirkland brand. We recently got overnight diapers to help have less leaks since he sleeps 10 hours straight and would often leak and be cold and wet in the morning.
Costco has those coupons for wipes and diapers like monthly. I would hold off on buying too many diapers and wipes. You will run out of storage space with all the baby stuff. Your little one won't be in size 2 diapers for quite awhile! :)
I used Huggies with all three of our kids - with Huggies Supreme being my favorite once they were past the newborn and size 1 stage. A little more pricey (and not available at Costco), but with coupons and sales, it wasn't too bad. That being said, each brand of diaper fits babies a little differently, and so it doesn't hurt to try a few different brands and see what works the best for your baby's little bummie!
As for wipes, after trying them all, my favorite were the Kirkland brand wipes from Costco. Can't beat the price, they don't have a smell, and they were a good thickness and didn't come in a hard tub, so it was easier to stick a pack in the diaper bag (I'd usually wait until it was half empty, then pull out a new one for home and transfer the half empty one to the diaper bag. Even now, with no more diapers, I still keep a package in the car and a couple at home - they're great for all kinds of messes!
So excited for you still...can't wait to see the tummy begin to pop!
Hey guys! Congrats again...the pregnancy will go by so fast we are 2 weeks from our due date! All the mommies have said to try different diapers and see which is best for your baby so we have huggies, pampers, the target brand and costco brand...we'll see! Just wondering if Logan was still interested in law enforcement...a close friend just told us CHP is hiring here!
We tried a couple of different brands. We really liked the Pampers for newborns/stage 1 and then she kept having blowouts, so we switched to Huggies. I really like those. You can get them at Costco and with coupons. We have found that buying at Costco is so much cheaper than at Walmart or Target. I love the Kirkland wipes. They don't smell, they aren't in a plastic container and a case will last a couple of months and they are about $16 per case.
I also strongly recommend A&D ointment with each and every diaper change. We use it religiously on Chloe and she has NEVER had a diaper rash. She has a silky smooth bottom.
I have some diapers of all different sizes and brands that I can give you and you can try when the little one gets here and you can decide which ones you like the best. It is going to be so much fun!!!! I can't wait!!!
Ya, it's different with each kid and their size when they are born. We found Pampers worked best for us for Jake until size 2. But with Cooper, I doubt it would have mattered. We just haven't been fans of Huggies before size 2. After size 1 or 2, we have moved from Huggies to Luvs to Pampers, etc. My friend let me use the Costco brand and it worked fine. If you go from Pampers to Luvs, you will definitely think Luvs is bad b/c Pampers are so soft, but we went back to Luvs again for Jake and just buy whatever is cheapest b/c it doesn't really matter too much once they are past the newborn stage. Someone said that you won't need size 2 for a while... that was the case for Jake but for Cooper, he was in them rather quickly. We also have nightime diapers for Jake and have been doing that since size 4 I think - lifesaver! Otherwise he'd have leaky diapers every night! We use the huggies wipes, but we found that unless you use the huggies big container, they are a pain to get out. I have heard COstco has the best wips and like Allison said, they will clean up plenty of other messes. And with the costco brand, you don' thave to put them in a container b/c they ahve their own lid on them, really nice.
The best thing that everyone has said is to just try lots of diffrent kinds, just get a couple from friends that are using each brand, don't waste the money on a big box. I think you will find it a bigger deal with size one and 2 than with the others. After size 2 I don't think it matters. We have pampers for Cooper now and Luvs for Jake... It might change, or not, depends on what's on sale.
ok...totally pampers at first unless you want blowouts! we tried huggies when simon was really little, and we had bad experiences with them. we did pampers for newborn and size one..then to huggies. simon is in size 4 right now and we still use huggies. but like everyone said...all kids are different. i would take christi up on that offer of the different diapers.
good luck...but honestly, i hope your baby has at least one blowout!! you have to experience it...especially when it happens RIGHT when you're walking out the door to church!! :)
All great advice. I totally agree with Amanda. I used Pampers Swaddlers for newborn and size 1 and then I started buying huggies in size 2 and up (as Costco). I think that's the best deal - at Costco. Babies R Us sells pretty big boxes of the pampers swaddlers. I think we went through a box a week or so at first - you end up changing those little diapers like 10 times a day or more. It's insane. I'm so excited for you guys! I can't wait for you to find out what you're having!
Oh .. also .. the kirkland brand wipes, from Costco, are awesome. They're cheap, they're soft, and always moist. I've found that the huggies wipes get dried out fairly quickly.
