I didn't realize how long this process would take to get a job in Law Enforcement. I thought we would have a pretty good idea by this point of where we would be heading, but nothing so far... so here's the latest.
I have an amazing husband!!!!
Logan has applied to over 30 law enforcement agencies, from California, Utah, Colorado, and some Federal law enforcement jobs. Half of them, we find out later that he needs his POST certification, or they're not hiring. The other ones, he either hasn't heard back from, or he is in the testing process.
Of the ones he has tested, he has failed some, barely passed some, or passed with flying colors....
Some that we are currently waiting for and excited for:
Border Patrol: (eeks!) - this will take us to the Border, which I am a bit nervous about, BUT, I'll go where my husband needs to take me...
Lot's of pressure with this test. Logan studied for HOURS... It consisted for a very long logical thinking test and an artificial language test (to see your ability to learn a new language, since Spanish will be required to be learned in the Academy).. Speaking of the academy, 6 months in New Mexico - they pay him salary and give him food and board, and I am NOT invited :(....
Anywhoo...Logan studied hard, and 70% of the people who take this test fail it. A passing score is 70%. Logan flew to San Diego to take the test, and got the score the same day.. a 90%!!!! It was awesome. We were both thrilled. It's not easy to get 90%!!!!
He is currently testing with the CHP, Oakland PD, Sacramento PD, and many other local city departments.
Meanwhile, Logan takes almost the same test for each department. Some of them require him to come to their location and take the test (which is usually the same type of test each time). And he also took the T-score at an Academy, which is the common Police Test that many of the departments use - but some of them will accept your score, instead of you coming to take it.
Logan took it in April and got a 46. Most departments require at least a 45,46,50,52.. depends on the department. So, he went back in May, and took it again, and this time got a 56!!!!!!!!
Isn't he awesome? So, that will help at many departments, especially at a department where they weigh the T-score more than other testing.
Another surprise was he got his score back from the CHP (another T-score test) and he got a 58!!!! So, he's getting much much better at these tests.
So, now he's got a lot more Oral Board Interviews to get more comfortable with and pass. These are strictly based on who is interviewing you, and what kind of personality they want in their department, - so it's just finding the department that's right for you...
SO, PLEASE PLEASE keep us in your prayers. It's driving me CRAZY not knowing what we'll be doing in 6 months, but I'm working on my patience... urgh!!!
